Driving along Route 66 is like entering a time-capsule and returning to another era. An era that was, for the most part, marked with prosperity, optimism and growth. During the 1940s many Americans had been to different parts of the world during WWII and upon returning home set out to see their own country. During the early 1930s many had travelled westward during the great depression looking for better opportunities in the western United States. The travellers from both of these shared the same road with similar expectations. Modern day travellers can still feel the flavor of these prior eras as they drive on the historic Route 66.
